I honestly hated Newt, she is the only thing wrong with Aliens. Hicks is also my least favorite Marine. However, the way they are killed off is so stupid and lazy it really hurts the film, kind of giving the middle finger to the second. The Bishop scene was unecessary and hurt the film as well.
And Alien 3 isn't terrible, it is just disappointing compared to the epicness of the first two. Now Resurrection is so bad it actually made me mad, mad that it is part of the Alien franchise. It just shits all over everything the movies built up and is so terrible and I hate it.
Have fun watching it, and please respond to this when you do, I want to know what you thought about it.

Many people seem to hate Newt. I'm curious. Why do you despise her? I thought she was a great addition to Aliens. For me, the mother-daughter relationship drove the film. Without her, Aliens would have been a B-movie. I loved the film. I still remember how the audience cheered during the final scenes. James Cameron, Sigourney Weaver, and the rest of the cast and crew did a great job with that movie.

Just finished it. It's pretty bad, although I did feel slightly bad for the human xeno, but really that's pretty much all. Quite a forgettable movie. Even Alien 3 is great compared to it.
