lol hes the problem? What problem?
-
This. Every time I see some wearing one, I want to slap them.
-
The only problem are the introverted twits that think because they can't make it all fit together, they're somehow above it all. Love you, cutie.
-
What is 'making it all fit together' even supposed to mean?
-
An inability to interact with the rest of the world in a manner consistent with the norm. Basically, I'm calling you an awkward little shit that hates things that are socially accepted because you yourself are not. I can dumb it down more if you need me to.
-
Edited by Seggi: 3/7/2013 12:34:22 PMYou're really trying to push that because you're just now buying into a ten year old fad?
-
I'm buying a shirt in support of one of my favorite fighters that was released within the past couple months. You're the -blam!- that's taking issue. I'm simply pointing out your character traits.
-
Edited by Seggi: 3/7/2013 12:45:52 PMThe character traits you assume I have because I possess even a vague familiarity with popular culture?
-
The ones you exhibit through your aggression towards pop culture.
-
Edited by Seggi: 3/7/2013 12:53:36 PMOh, my, you really consider that 'pop culture'? And will your next purchase be a Big Bang Theory t-shirt?
-
Where it fits in any culture wasn't a consideration of mine. I support the guy selling the shirt, so I bought the shirt. You're reaching if you're trying to say that the "Keep Calm" shit isn't everywhere atm though. It certainly is in America at the least. Can't say I watch the Big Bang Theory, though your obvious disdain for it just goes to show that I'm pretty spot on with you. There's nothing wrong with supporting something you enjoy. The fact that you think there is is sad.

Edited by Seggi: 3/7/2013 1:29:50 PMLook, dude, here's the thing. 'Popular culture' isn't just about recycling things that are popular (if it were, things would never change), but about being in touch with society. It's about people being able to relate to you because you understand the same things they understand, but those things have a limited lifespan. Maybe that's because the fondness of something that becomes generalised can't be related to in the same way it can when not everybody likes it, or maybe it's just because the ideas themselves stagnate and become undesirable (or maybe it's a completely different reason, I don't really know), but when you're trying to hold those things up as relatable (which is exactly what whatever business you purchased that from was trying to do, I'm totally positive) when they're cheap imitations of popular thought, or support and represent people or organisation who do, you're presenting an image of complete detachment (or even stupidity) to a lot of people. I'm sure you're a swell person, but the kind of shallow interpretation of society that's behind this (and isn't necessarily down to you) bothers me.
-
There's not a thing in this world that you can do that won't make a large group of people think you're a dumbass. Generally, the dumbasses are the ones spewing hate towards someone for supporting whatever it is they support. You're the only person here that's succeeded in making themselves look like an idiot.
-
My last post was an earnest attempt at communication, but if you're just going to ignore it then you can -blam!- off.
-
The keep calm thing is dumb, but I'm not gonna be mad that you bought one. If you want to support someone who am I to stand in your way. I had the same thought at first though as Seggi. Shirts like this and ones like "you mad bro?" or "Cool story bro" literally hurt me when I see them. The common people of the population that wears them are total idiots who think they are cool for wearing them. I'm not saying you are one of them Meech, but you are sort of labeling your self as one by following a trend run by idiots.
-
I'd contend that assuming a group of people with 1 similar interest are all dumb would mean that the only idiot is the asshole making the assumption. Gotta have more to go on than just 1 criteria if you wanna arrive at a homogenous IQ level.
-
Well the thing that makes me consider this to be dumb is that very little of the population that wears or likes the "Keep Calm" stuff actually know what it is from. I would like to assume that you are an outlier in this, but it is possible. It makes me almost want to buy a shirt with one of the other two phrases on them from WWII, but I would feel like somebody would honestly laugh at me and tell me that my shirt is "doing it wrong".
-
'Keep calm' doesn't offend me. I think it's kinda neat. But you shouldn't go trying to defend pop culture as a whole, most of it is a cesspool of low, detrimental ideas. Things do need to be judged as to their worth, when all is said and done.
