This brings up a question.
Now that were seeing quite a bit of examples of 3-d printing happening, could weapon blueprints be sold on the blackmarket to people with 3-d printers.
Should 3-d printing tech become more advanced and readily available to everyone, couldnt some asshat spread around the code to print out a rifle replica?

The blueprints are on the surface internet and have been downloaded more than ten thousand times already last I heard. Black market isn't even needed here.

It would be impossible to regulate blueprints on the internet. The black market wouldn't even exit.

Yeah, pretty much. The biggest problem is, the only part that can be printed is the lower, or things like a pistol grip or stock. The important part of the rifle needs to be metal. That is the bolt, the bolt assembly, the parts that go into the lower like the Hammer, the trigger assembly, the detente springs, etc... The most important part of the rifle is of course the barrel. That absolutely positively has to be metal. Till we get cheap CnC machines, or 3D printers which print metal, I think it won't be a huge issue.
