Proof of that?
All we have is the word of some anonymous poster who says he works for SEGA. Just taking that last part at face value, it's still possible, and I say likely, for him to color his statements as favorable towards SEGA.

Well I know that Gearbox did for a fact hand the game over to another dev because they were busy with Borderlands 2, not too sure of the funding being taken from it and used in Borderlands.
