I'd also argue that some of them are artsy. One of them IS a musician, for example. Hipster has turned into a catch all bullshit term to describe things one doesn't like. For example: Apple products get trashed for being hipster even though they're some of the most widely owned consumer electronic devices. Hell, I'm probably more "hipster" (less mainstream) for owning a Windows Phone.
