how can I have any faith whatsoever? Every Nation, every land our world has is now taken. Claimed in greed to define said nation. Every nation, built upon steeped pillars of blood and violence. No nation is without its horrid dark past so what ground is it that we stand on to give ourselves pride in our present? Pride in its base sense is one of the greatest Evils plaguing our world. We have destroyed the natural and created the abstract. We have become lost in the abstract world of Economics and are now jeopardizing the fate of our world because of it. We have found that it is an unavoidable fact that foreign objects will eventually make it to the earth and destroy it. We have the technology to form a defense against this HOWEVER, we are so lost behind the false veil of Economics that this device might not even be around to save us by then! We have put the lives of future generations at risk simply because we dont have enough decorative paper to sustain the creation of something that can save our world!
I shall never have faith in this stupid race!

Yes, because we could easily build a planet-wide defense system without having to worry about money, trade or anything economical (!)

you seem to be forgetting the point. We have let the invisible world of the economy doom the physical world. Why should we worry about money in this situation? its not like if the world is destroyed someone is going to have to pay a fee to fix it! Its a matter of safety that should not be overshadowed by the "mighty dollar" because it is inevitable that a meteor that can destroy us will eventually make its way here!

I understand the line you have drawn between the physical and the abstract that humans have created. However, your defense system could not be built without some sort of economy/trade happening to pay for parts, labour, etc.

So you are saying its physically impossible for something to be built without someone having money in their pockets? This is why I shall never have faith in humanity. Greed has doomed us.

You completely ignored my point, I didn't mention money [b]at all[/b]. Greed isn't what's at play here. If people worked for free to build your defenses, instead of getting paid, they would starve to death. That isn't greed, it's getting a fair wage for fair work so you can survive. The notion that we should drop all ideas of economy is naive at best.

And you have proved my point about the Economy now ruling the globe. We have lumped basic necessities such as nourishment to being a part of the economy rather than ecology.

I should have known better than to reason with someone who thinks economy and trade are barriers to developing anything that could defend the earth from [i]"foreign objects"[/i], as you call them.

How do the people that are building it going to feed their families? How do the people that donate resources going to cover the loss of money? These sort of questions need to be asked if what you want could ever happen.
