Smoking anything is a serious cancer and vascular disease risk.
Smoking pot is an intoxicant that impairs memory judgement and motor skills.
Long term us does impair brain function and physically changes brain chemistry. (the changes in brain chemisty is the empirical link to back the claim of long term heavy users being more prone to psychosis.)
It has the same dependency, brain altering, and impairment risks as alcohol. And should be treated similarly. The drawback being there isn't a cheap and easy method of testing how intoxicated you are. It has the same public health risks as smoking tobacco, and should also be given those restrictions as well.

Edited by DocSmurf: 2/25/2013 8:30:59 PMFeel free to provider peer reviewed medical citation on that. It has little effect on motor skills and accuracy, Short term memory loss only occurs in very heavy use and is contained to the time of actual consumption, It has no provable links to lung cancer. It is far less dependency inducing than alcohol or cigs. It's fun to be on the side of the argument with more data. Makes things easy. read the TL:DR most of what you said falls into studies done in 2009 2010 that have been recently overturned through more study.

Yes, it is easy when you have peer reviewed data: Wake Forest study John Hopkins University Harvard Medical University of Utah Brain Institute and Harvard Brain Imaging Center Oxford University Another Oxford University of Queensland Need more?

1998, old 2005, old 2010, Will read at earliest possible. 2011 frontal lobe alteration was upheld in persons starting below the age of 16 in recent studies so ill hand you that one. 2011 Study assumes early use in its findings, Non applicable to those starting over the age of 19-20 04-05 Memory and cognition studys have been debunked as recently as 2012, will pull relevant citation shortly. 2009- Still assumes Early use of cannabis non applicable to those starting over the age of 19-20

Your a fool when you think old scientific articles are wrong. "Theory of Relativity: 1910 OLD"

Edited by Obi Wan Stevobi: 2/25/2013 9:20:26 PMWhat exactly are you trying to say? Smoking weed cannot give you cancer? Smoking weed doesn't impair judgement? It doesn't lead to long term brain impairment? Even if much of the long term damage is reversible, that is only if you stop using it, so highly disingenuous to a pro-marijuana use case you seem to want to make. I'm all for legalizing and regulation of it on the grounds that it isn't demonstrably more dangerous than cigarettes and vodka, but don't lie to me and try to play it off as harmless. PS, they're only too old if they are retracted or since refuted.

More people toxically overdose on water every year than pot. in fact. 0 people every year die of a toxic THC overdose.

I never said anything to the contrary. Just because it isn't acutely lethal doesn't mean it doesn't have serious dangers, especially over the long term.

Edited by DocSmurf: 2/25/2013 9:39:53 PMWhat im saying is pretty obvious. The amount of damage posed by this substance has been found to be both Temporary and insignificant in those over the age of 18-20 in most recent studies making its status as a scheduled one illegal drug ridiculous at best. I do not have the speed from this mobile device nor the time to search and refute each of these with a link though from my own research on countless occasions i know for a fact said links exist and are from reputable locations. The fact of the matter is while THC may have the ability to make small alterations in the brain structure of some humans the result of this small alteration is negligible and produces no outward issues in the function of the people it alters. Any noticeable drop in memory is temporary, The IQ drop test's finding was below its own margin of error resulting in an inconclusive, and the human brain is so diverse and adaptive that any small changes made from baseline rarely result in any major inparment from continued use of THC People should have just as much right to smoke pot at 18 as they do to smoke tobacco. It is less addictive, has less of a chance to give you cancer, and doesn't permanently impare lung function. It really is that simple. Get out of the way of people that choose to smoke it. Of all the legal "Drugs" it is the tamest in overall danger. It has been and always will be.

REALLY, because studies that have come out MONTHS ago show young men like you and me being highly more susceptible to testicular cancer while smoking cannabis. And that's not just one study it's MANY. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=cannabis+and+testicular+cancer
