I wouldn't want all drugs legalized, especially Heroin, cocaine and meth. You can't compare those to alcohol, those drugs ruin lives, and they are extremely addictive. Introducing them to the legal market would be a bad idea. Soft drugs like weed should be legal though.

Wastes money, imprisons innocents, infringes on our freedoms and makes drugs more potent and available to children.

The law is the only thing illegal and unjust. It infringes on our freedoms which trump any tyrannical law.

Yes, it does. "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. " "Do not be too severe upon the errors of the people, but reclaim them by enlightening them." -Thomas Jefferson

He treated his slaves very nicely. Do you honestly think ending slavery back then would have been a good thing? They were essential to the country just like cannabis was.

No, I stated ending slavery at that period would have been detrimental, even for blacks. It should have ended naturally just like it did in other parts of the world. Forcing it to end caused a lot of tension and hatred and made lives for blacks a lot worse.

It was the reality at the time. I have a lot of principle, and any slave that refused and tried to defend their liberties is honorable in my book, however, a lot of slaves were treated well because their masters knew they could have their throats slit in the middle of the night. The were paid with crops and shelter, once slavery was abolished tension was heavy and they couldn't find work leaving them poor and in very harmful conditions.

Drug dealers don't require identification like businesses do.

  • Making hard drugs legal will give them media attention, and people will go out and try them once they are legalized. Bad idea.

They can still try them while they are illegal. Prohibition is the bad idea. Education is key here. I'm not asking for drugs to be glamorized like cigarettes were, and I doubt many people would be advertising and celebrating heroin, because there would be huge backlash. We significantly reduced cigarette smoking in the '70s, it didn't take an unjust law to achieve this, it just took awareness and education. We need to be honest about drugs and not prohibit people from using them responsibly.
