A more accurate description of the Defense of Marriage Act is "if another state in the US recognizes your same sex marriage as legal, other states don't have to". That is in direct violation of the constitution. It was shoved through by conservatives in the 90s when Hawaii was going to vote on legalizing gay marriage. They didn't want gay people from their state flying to Hawaii, getting married, and coming back to reap the benefits.
They didn't want gay people from their state flying to Hawaii, getting married, and coming back to reap the benefits.
Benefits heterosexuals have had for years? It's not a benefit if everyone but you has it. (This isn't aimed at you muffin, just a general statement.)
