With a logical tag (or tags) someone will be able to days later, or months later, find that discussion and start it back up. Check your settings to make sure that you get notified when someone replies to you, and you'll get ongoing conversations about things that YOU care about. It's new, it's different (especially compared to how it used to be), but it has a lot of power and a lot of promise.
