Yes and no.
Yes: The need for competitive Halo is great. This is a good step for the resurgence of competition.
No: To me, as a long time and almost exclusive Halo player, it feels like they are trying to go backwards instead of work in the right direction. It seems like they are trying to make it like Halo of the past, instead of working with what they have. With mostly BR starts and no armor abilities if feels like a knocked off, replicated Halo 3. What I think they need to do is incorporate more of the "newer" things to the game, (DMRs, Amor Abilities) and make a style of competition Halo hasn't seen before. There's a lot of concepts that haven't even scratched the surface with this title, the lack of Extraction and Bomb gametypes suggest this and they house so much dormant potential. But hey, I'm not calling the shots, hopefully they can come up with something fun.

DMRs and AAs are in the playlist, with AAs being ordinance. Extraction is also very popular in Throwdown, so...I struggle to see the problem.

I have not seen one extraction game in throwdown yet. The fact of the matter is all these things take a back seat to what was, but they need to be focused on. It's like a denial of the potential that's there.

...wut. every single goddamn game is extraction
