How is it an embarrassment to Microsoft when they've yet to display their product?

Because right now, they're behind. Well behind. Sony has shown off their new console, and they've done a great job of it. Sony is basically starting off 2013 saying, "This is our new toy, this is what it's capable of, this is what some of the games are going to be." Meanwhile, there's not even a RUMOR of when Microsoft will even TALK about their next console. And unlike Sony, Microsoft doesn't have 2 platforms to take care of, it's really just the Xbox 360 while Sony has been promoting their PS3 AND their Vita platform.

Anyone remember 2005? The PS3 was kept quiet until after the Xbox 360 announcement. I'd wager that Microsoft are doing the same thing this time; letting Sony take the first step and then announcing their work. I mean hell, the PS3 didn't come out until 2006 while the Xbox 360 was here in 2005.

Exactly, and the 360 DOMINATED the market this past console cycle, I think in large part to Halo 3's heavy anticipation but also because they were first out the gate. Now that Microsoft doesn't have any decent exclusives anymore, they're in a pretty weak position the next generation unless they beef up their lineup.
