The difference is that you and your friends know that you don't mind being called a cracker. "Some random" person doesn't know that. It's the difference between a vicious attack and a friendly greeting.

Black people are cool around here, I have said that word to many of my friends who are black. Maybe you're just hanging out with ignorant black people then. The ones here tolerate it.

Just like you the black people in my area are cool, but I was thinking of some of these articles on the Internet. For example this bullshit. If the teacher was black the little attention whore wouldn't care at all.
