Nothing wrong with saying dude, man.
But if you feel yourself becoming less immature and ignorant, and more rational and intellectual, well, I say embrace it. But being an intelligent and conscious human being doesn't mean you can't sport verbal affectations, or have fun, dude.

"man" does not bother me so much. "mister" is even okay. "Dude" is frustratingly daft. I think it's because drugs (pot specifically) are a huge influence on the word. I cannot stand drugs! Call me what you want but I avoid Motrin if I can. I've also noticed that over the years I have a strange intolerance to certain accents. This is much less controllable than "growing up." A heavy British accent gives me a headache even when they are mild mannered people. I don't understand why I get headaches though. I think the tone just strikes the wrong drum as it were.
