I can't help but feel like the planet of the day--the moon, mars, etc is somehow related.

That's what I was thinking! At first I was thinking that it was a literal model of the planet but it can't be because the tilts and rotation(as far as I can tell) are the same. But there could be some sort of relay maybe even just focal points with the planets acting like reflecting lenses or something. I've been working on a Friday clip that covers the full 24 hours (minus two intervals) right now btw
