its not the first time for women fighting in the octagon... other promotions have held events for women. the ufc has even had female matches, but they have been held off the main cards (not even the "facebook free" fights) or completely non-publicised and in some obscure venue.

It absolutely is the first time women have fought in the UFC. I'm well aware they've fought in Strikeforce, EliteXC, Invicta, and other organizations. The octagon is a trademark of the UFC though and no women have fought there. The UFC doesn't do dark shows, so you're pulling that right out of your ass.

friend of mine is a former UFC lightweight and i know they have "dark" shows and that women have fought in them.
