What did we get after Frieza? Two androids who far outclass Frieza (what?) Cell, who is pretty awesome, and the Buu saga, which has like a few good episodes at the most.
Most of the cell saga was a serious step down from the Frieza saga, and only really got good when Perfect Cell started coming around, bar the fight with Piccolo and Android 17.
And my biggest gripe with this season is the main threat. Androids? Really? We go from the biggest tyrant in the galaxy, to a few androids which some scientist made?
And oh God the Buu saga. The only good bits in this saga were with Majin Vegeta and Ultimate Gohan, and both of these characters got shit on all over. Majin Vegeta sacrifices his life to save the world? LOLNO REGENERATION BITCH
Ultimate Gohan comes up and badass and beats the shit out of Super Buu? Lolno absorbed -blam!- you. The Buu saga is basically toryama sodomising Gohan and Vegeta fans. Not only that, but we got SSJ3. The worst transformation of them all. Pretty badass design, but it accomplished nothing but another BS level for Goku and ruined Goku's and Vegeta's fight.
tl;dr they should have stopped at frieza, and why did they even seperate dragonball and dragonball Z anyway?
I enjoy Dragon Ball Z so much that more is always good to me. Even with how off the rails it got in the Buu saga, I still just loved DBZ.
And as far as the major sagas go, I list them Cell Saga > Saiyan Saga > Frieza Saga > Buu saga. The Goku/Cell battle was the best in the series, the dynamic the Cell arena brought to it made it interesting, Piccolo/17 was fantastic, Trunks was a bad-ass, Android 16's speech to Gohan, Vegeta getting wrecked by Perfect Cell after being so confident. Most of the most memorable and best moments from the series for me come from the Cell saga.
