I don't understand anything about Magic the Gathering. Some of my friend's are trying to teach me but I just get confused with how they word it and they get way too far into detail.

If you're friends aren't particularly good teachers (though to be fair, it's very difficult!), I highly reccommend looking into Duels of the Planewalkers. It does a beautiful job explaining the rules of the game and giving you decks that aren't too complex.
