I enjoy how this all happened under the authority of President Buchanan, invariably considered to be the worst president we ever had the displeasure of electing.

Jackson was a badass and a decent president, Polk was alright, Johnson was bad, but Buchanan was bloody awful and is easily the worst president of all time.

Edited by Myth of Tyrant: 2/8/2013 11:56:52 PMJames Polk and Andrew Jackson were both fairly capable presidents (I personally have more respect for Polk over Jackson, but that's neither here nor there), and Andrew Johnson was just sort of there in the office (Congress essentially beat the ever-loving shit out of any policy he might have proposed). Polk and Jackson are usually rated within the top 10 or so historically, both were decent if not good overall.
