I read "Contact Harvest", "First Strike" and "Ghosts of Onyx" I liked them. The new books have extra cover-art within the books, and have a 343i logo on it.
I reccommend starting with Contact Harvest, the beginning of the Covenant war.

Literature is like "Lord of he Flies", "Everything is Illuminated", "Life of Pi" and "The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings". Good books are: "Inheritance Trilogy", "Harry Potter", "Halo Books". See? there is a difference. Just like the difference between Nicki Minaj and Deep Purple. The latter is the "literature" one, but it is both music...
