Just imagine if we had White history month

I wonder if people would consider you racist if you celebrated being white.

  • There is absolutely no context for the existence of a "white history month," other than the clearly racist and spiteful undertones feeding the concept. This viewpoint that "The blacks had tough times back then, now they don't, get over it," is a) false and b) proving you have racial insecurities. Here's a good rule of thumb: if you have to start a sentence with "I'm not a racist, but..." then you're likely a racist. Blacks aren't considered 3/5 of a person anymore, but the issue remains that black people are at a significant disadvantage in this country, not because they are inherently inferior in any way, but because their socioeconomic environment has been one of poverty. These circumstances have been arisen from the unfortunate history of how the white majority and the bureaucracy have treated blacks on the personal and legal levels.

Yes. Yes they would. And for good reason. Context is absolutely everything. Bear in mind that "...... pride" isn't a claim of superiority, but equality. So needlessly proclaiming white pride is at best idiotic and at worst racist.

    • "White people" aren't exactly a unified culture in the same way that American black people are.

      • Middle-class white males are severely neglected in today's society. It's a sad fact. :)

        • About 90% of black history month already includes white history anyway.

        • Considering that the intention seems to be to spite the people who celebrate black history month. Then yes it would probably be considered racist.

It's more of a celebration of equality. Caucasians were never considered non-human animals. Also, black history month isn't exactly a celebration of the black individuals alive today. It's a celebration of the history of black individuals. Hence the name.

          • Once again, all months dedicated to any certain race's history is idiotic to me.

            • If anyone in the US should get a month dedicated to them, it should be Native Americans. Look at what their ancestors went through and what they go through today. Honestly, how many African-Americans would actually want to be in Africa right now?

              • Yep they would call it racist. It would also be a problem if we had a straight pride parade or had white pride.
