Can gods create gods?

This question is based off another topic I created, where I asked if angels were gods. Many responses were based around the thought that since they were created, they could not be gods. So my question is why couldn't gods create gods? Why couldn't God then have created lesser gods, angels? In addition, have their been any religions where folks believe this has happened? And I don't mean through birth, I mean through creation (though, arguably, are they not essentially the same thing?)

I am not sure. Catholics believe in the trinity but some christan branches believe that the son and father are two seperate entities. In taht case did the father create jesus who is believed to be a god? Is jesus even of the same caliber of the father? These questions will have different answers. At this point no one knows. That is if you are talking about the christan god.

In Greek myth, many of the Gods were the offspring of Zeus. Zeus and his siblings were the children of Cronus. Take that for what's it worth.

          • Yes; it's a doctrine of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. In the words of St. Athanasius, "God became man so that men may become god." Humans are gods because our God became human and thus elevated humanity into godhood. We are the only Abrahamic religion where we could say that we are gods without being stoned or accused of blasphemy.

          • Why not? Theism is what you make it to be.
