The NHS works in the UK and I believe Canada has a similar system. I don't see why it won't work in the US.

we're covered by our government in our taxes until 65, then you're on your own... is that similar?

If conservatives on the Flood were more intelligent, they'd argue the economics, which is their only argument. The timing of such a bill, during a recession while deep in debt, is obviously not the best time to try and implement this system.
