The problem with this is the same as putting alcohol-soaked tampons in your butt: because it's entering your bloodstream directly, it's much easier to get and die from alcohol poisoning, because you can't vomit out any of the alcohol if you consume too much. You lose one of the body's poison-coping mechanisms.

This was my first thought as well. While this method sounds safer in some ways, overall, breathing in alcohol vapor sounds incredibly dangerous unless done extremely responsibly.
