Im glad to see they are not going to do it for the sake of doing it and that they want a good reason 1st. The closest we got to a sci-fi GTA is Saints Row while that was a very fun game I don't think it hit the sci-fi bar.

Saints Row III had VTOL bikes, microwave beam weaponry, a helicarrier, etc., which are sort of near-future sci-fi, but I really want to see some legit flying cars and a good arsenal of laser weaponry and the like.
