Do you honestly think that developers should waste their resources after launch by not planning ahead in the present?

Of course. Their thought process is most likely "Delay the game a few more months to squeeze in all the downloadable-content" or at least a decent chunk of it. That simply isn't profitable, however. As long as it isn't disc locked, isn't day one DLC and wasn't meant to be part of the original campaign, i find it acceptable. This is also probably EA trying to get the 5 million copies worth of money this game needs to continue running. Probably why they added microtransactions and all the other stuff. I doubt they'd just end the franchise, but knowing EA, this could go either way.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, it always sucks when they nickle and dime you on something interesting that should have been in the main game (See that Prothean squad mate in ME3), but the buisness strategy in general is sound.
