This was a really great cinematic, especially when Lasky gets a slap. But is there a reason for Palmer not to wear her helmet, other than her head's so fraking big?

A helmet would protect her and give her easy access to HUD information. So its natural that, as she's an idiot, she wouldn't wear one.
