I don't know what 'unlocking a smartphone' actually allows you to do but if it gives you access to content that you would otherwise had to pay for, then it should be illegal to access that content after unlocking the phone.

    Unlocking a smartphone just means you can use different cell service providers instead of the provider you bought your phone from.

    If that is the case, then I don't think it should illegal. I think I got it confused with "jailbreaking". I never had a smartphone so I don't know all this terminology.
