I don't think they lied so much as there was incorrect information coming from on the ground sources as to what was actually happening.

your telling me that the president of the United States who has drones all over the Middle East cant watch the entire thing live and send support? Your telling me that even if there was a protest we couldnt send troops to aid them?

Actually, yes. Intelligence gathering and subsequent analyzing is a very difficult process. We had troops on station, but I believe we refrained from sending them to prevent wider scale conflict from erupting.

Well no, because all analysis at that point given by the I.C. indicated that it was a protest.
