Hmmmmm.
Shaming "fat" people to make them stop being "fat". Because being "fat" is not acceptable to you.
What happens when we replace the word "fat" in the above sentence with other descriptors that some people classify as "something that I don't approve of or particularly like".
Gay
Straight
Tatooed
Black
White
Asian
Old
Young
Stupid
Poor
Unemployed
Rich
or whatever you (or someone else) thinks is less than acceptable...

well, you can't just change: Gay Straight Tatooed Black White Asian Old Young Stupid Poor Unemployed on a whim. I believe this could be a good thing. i am not going to read the article, but obese people should pay more for healthcare and shit.

but being fat is bad for your health and being fit is good for your health. There is nothing subjective about it, it is a fact that being fat is bad.

Neither can an overweight person simply become fit 'on a whim'.

Edited by Frag Ingot: 1/27/2013 9:56:42 PMBeing obese at 280lbs, I take offence at the idea that this would help in any way shape or form. If it has helped someone, good for them, but to me this is just wrong. And you missed Recons point, if you had substituted any of those listed adjectives into that phrase, you would have come off as sounding like a douche. The intolerance against fat people is apprehensible. And it should be healthier people that pay more for health care, for an obese person the greatest cost with health care are prescription drugs, but a healthier person does more dangerous activities like football, mountain biking and snow skiing and end up utilizing our healt care resources even more.
