Because fetuses didn't choose to have terrible life decisions like killing another human being. As such, a fetus could be viewed as an innocent life worth saving (pro-life) and murderers and the like, viewed as guilty souls, who have no chance of redemption.

They'd get to heaven faster that way.

I... I don't know what you are trying to say.... You are also assuming that the people who are pro-life are pro-life because of their religion. While the vocal group for pro-life seem to be mainly driven by religion that does not mean that all people who are pro-life are such because of their religion. I'm just trying to see it from their point of view. I'm of the mindset that if a woman wants to get an abortion every month then she should be able, so long as she is able to pay for it, and it is not paid by taxpayers. Unless in extreme cases ie sexual assault, incest.

God gave each fetus life to live. If we decide to take away that life, then that is murder. Do you know what you get when you do an abortion? A dead body. Maybe you'll never see it, but the fact remains that every abortion kills something. Whether it kills a relationship, a child, or a heart, doesn't matter. There is still death involved. Similarly, I am against now, and always have been against the death penalty. I believe that no person is so far from God that they cannot redeem themselves through thought and actions, and that each person should be given a chance to do so in society.
and murderers and the like, viewed as guilty souls, who have no chance of redemption.
So when did they change that whole "judge not" part of the Bible?

Dude, you are asking the wrong person. I'm just trying to see it from a point of view that doesn't conflict with their religious views. This is also assuming that people who are pro-life are pro-life because of religious views.

Edited by RighteousTyrant: 1/25/2013 10:13:26 PMGotcha. The whole topic is shit. I wish people could just live and let live. The SCOTUS decided Roe 40 years ago. Get over it already, people.

They didn't. Christians have always been called to judge (read: correct) others. Not sure why you brought that up though; it didn't sound like he was talking about religion.

Edited by RighteousTyrant: 1/25/2013 10:11:26 PMHe said that their "souls" have no chance of "redemption". Sounds like invoking religion to me. And to your point, there is nothing corrective about murder, state-sanctioned or otherwise.
