Religion is just silly. I go by one rule, Do good things and good things will happen to you.

You're silly.
-
So karma?
-
That's not really karma.
-
Isn't it? I thought it was.
-
Edited by Seggi: 1/26/2013 6:37:39 PMNah, karma's a religious concept to do with reincarnation (and, more generally, samsara). They're similar, but definitely not the same thing.
-
Oh i guess i have heard to many people yell "That's karma!"
-
The Bible teaches the same thing but you have to answer to a higher power and not yourself which is more incentive to be good.
-
Why exactly do you need incentive to be a good person? Is It out of fear for the consequences or is it out of the desire to get something out of it?
-
Edited by Expunge: 1/25/2013 9:21:02 PMBoth. People should be held accountable for their actions.
-
Wouldn't being a good person to reap a reward be considered selfish? Which goes against the bible itself. And living in fear seems like a terrible way to live.
-
Lol, I think you're overestimating peoples' abilities to think about future consequences of their actions. Usually when people act, Heaven and Hell aren't what they're worried about, they're worried about the here and now. In other words, one's conscience is usually more likely to dictate whether someone does the right or wrong thing than the promise of Heaven or the threat of Hell. At least that's how it seems to me.
-
Edited by Expunge: 1/25/2013 9:31:24 PMOMG have you never encountered legitamately good Christians? I feel like we are splitting hairs.
-
How can you tell they are legitimately good?
-
Nvm. I don't know what I am trying to prove talking to you. It seems you just want to find reasons to not like religion.

Edited by die wily: 1/26/2013 7:18:57 PM
I don't know what I am trying to prove talking to you.
You're trying to justify your beliefs to a questioning stranger and have hit a brick wall. Now you've realized you don't really know what you're talking about and, rather than thinking through your beliefs or analyzing those of another, are trying to weasel your way out of the conversation by putting your "opponent" down with irrelevant, baseless points, in order to feel like you've "won," or something.
-
I don't know what I said before you quoted me. But I am in no mood to have a debate over the internet where everyone is a bigot which is why I quit talking to that dude. You are also a relgion hater. That is apparent.

Edited by die wily: 1/26/2013 10:13:26 PMThen don't respond to them, carry out a discussion, and then suddenly stop and exit it on some holier-that-thou comment. Religious arguments tend to be heated and polarizing, and if you don't want that, just ignore them.
