That would be neat, but would users be allowed to connect to different servers? Or only the Bungie server? I imagine this could create problems for existing channels if they have to move to another server.

well that's the thing, I don't know how this could work. If it was that we had the option to connect pre-existing servers then there would be no problem, as the people who didn't want to use the widget could continue using their irc client. However, if Bungie made it so they had their server which made it easier for private groups to have chats, and also made it so that you could connect to other servers aswell it might be a win-win.

If it's going to be pure JavaScript I don't think it'll be feasible to let others connect to other servers than the one Bungie hosts, if they implement this. You'd have to go through a Bungie server that connects to the external IRC server, such as Adelais or Rizon.
