Has Disney said anything about the gaming side of Star Wars?

 • Nothing yet. In truth, Lucasfilm (and, by extension, Lucasarts) is being more or less left alone to operate independently of Disney - kinda like how they let Marvel do their own thing. I would be surprised if Disney were to have direct involvement in Lucasarts' business before the new movies come out.

 • Well that's good. I just hope that Lucasarts will now be as creative as they want to be, considering that they don't have to worry about a budget anymore.

 • Oh, it wasn't budgetary constraints that killed most ideas (not even Battlefront III) - it was the issue of what is or is not canon. If a project came along that was felt to be straying too far from was perceived to be Lucas' vision of what Star Wars was, it would typically be chopped out of fear that he wouldn't like it (meaning they never went to him directly).

 • That always seems like an issue in Star Wars. You'd think they would care more about pleasing their fans with highly anticipated games and the profits they'd recieve.

 • They care about their fans, for sure - but you have to keep in mind that Lucasfilm more or less mastered the art of catering to their fanbase just enough, while still offering a product that could draw in the younger crowds and make gobs of money. It wasn't done out of maliciousness, or resentment for the older fans - it was simple smart business.

 • True enough. I know that the fanbase always gets excited for any type of Star Wars news that gets announced. I have high hopes that they'll create some new games that people will love.
