Actually, Asian American and Mexican American are widely used.

I'm not sure what to tell you, because I certainly hear and use those terms often.

Edited by Vicex: 1/17/2013 1:11:35 AMI have not once heard those terms my entire life and there was a heavy hispanic population where I live and a heavy asian population where I attend university. Have never even seen it used in the news (televised or otherwise) or any other media.
