Explore mode dungeons

Possibly time to bring them back and possibly have 1 raid every week on the portal which is similar to the dungeon explore modes ( tutorial run for gear etc but no exotic )

  • I can’t believe they even made tutorials in the first place. Imagine building an event around refreshed mechanics and dungeon loot and it all being either discarded or like the weapons essentially sunset with in a couple of months . It’s a staggering waste of time and effort if nothing else . It might have been one of the few things to keep newer players engaged but nope just throw it all out.

  • I'm onboard with Explorer mode for Dungeons, just not in the portal... I still want to remove the "Dungeon Lairs" from the portal. I think its actually hurting Dungeon engagement when someone who's never done a dungeon launches the portal version with champions, revive tokens, and a time limit... and they end up thinking ALL Dungeons are this difficult, when they're not.

Yeah this is the only thing I think we can all agree on. Really wish there was a mode for people to just jump in and take on the basic and more simple version of raids and have the hard mode he what normal mode is now.

    • Having an explore mode for dungeons is a no-brainer. I always thought dungeons were too difficult for solo players but rite of the nine pushed me to try those. Would love a similar explore mode for raids but that’ll likely involve a lot more work than just reducing combatant power and adding tips, like tuning down some mechanics. Never understood why Bungie dropped this gem of an idea. Should’ve at least left the 3 dungeons with better mechanics (like no arbalest needed for GotD bosses), better weapons (which anyway don’t compare to tiered weapons) and explore mode.

      • Great idea, but I wouldn't put it on the Portal. I would have it as an option on ALL dungeons on the Director. I think it would bring a lot of players back who are sick to the back teeth of the Portal monotonous tedium, and launching them from the Director would remind us all how good Destiny was and how badly it has fallen to now. Don't forget, the Portal was scrapped before launch 10 years ago, so a simple act of going to the Director and looking for a specific dungeon would be a welcome break from flicking through a boring checkerboard.

      • Not sure why they stopped. They had the blueprint for them. THey should have continued having an explore mode for raids and dungeons on each new release. no feats added, T3 caps, no exotics etc but something to get players used to the mechanics.

      • I enjoyed it. I was able to solo dungeons without getting my butt kicked. I didn't care about loot but just getting mechanics down better and practicing for doing it with clanmates.

      • agree the raids should all have an easier casual mode that is doable with matchmaking on majority of the playerbase basically ignores raids right now, just wasted resources make it have lower drop rates or whatever, but guaranteeing most players don't even see some of your biggest content drops is just bad design

tryin to work with whats left.. for now - 4/3/2026 12:46:30 PM

They should have never left. They've dismantled their own good works like ROTN and Into The Light.... because they can't figure out how to make people pay for this game. I can't imagine someone feeling like they need to gatekeep Raids and Dungeons in a game that is absolutely dying/descending in population

        • I ran so many dungeons when that was up farmed out some pretty good guns just to have them become useless not even a month later.... But I did enjoy doing the dungeons though even if some runs were rough because no one knew what they were doing because matchmaking's a thing but over time people learn same thing will be for the raids there's just going to be a curve there damn depressed about the guns though worthless now

          • Dungeons? Sure. Raids? It depends. We have this conversation every time this topic comes up, but most Raid encounters would never work in a setting akin to Explore Mode for Dungeons. Has every Raid encounter been soloed or lowmaned? Absolutely. But I doubt the average player going into Explore Mode would be capable of doing that. For it to work, Bungie would need to go back and redesign every Raid Encounter in a way so that it can be cleared by at least a casual solo player. Which they would never do because; A: that would require a massive time investment that Bungie is not willing to do at the moment, B: it would give a false impression on how the encounter normally plays out. I use this example every time: explain to me how you would change Verity to be clearable with any number of players less than four (the minimum number required to clear the encounter). Keeping in mind that you are not allowed to change how mechanics normally play out and some players might load in without mics.

            • To get reluctant, solo, casual players into a raid, here’s what would entice an old tortoise, like me… Raid - 1x / week and refreshes at normal reset day. Loot - as per normal…no difference, maybe a shader for Explore and one for ExNormal Element - 1x Section per day / farm as desired Setting - match made per each instance / run Difficulty - Explore Mode then Normal Mics - optional Loadout - vanilla build or better Benefits: I have neither the time nor inclination to spend several hours with randos in one sitting in order to complete a raid…however, based on the a/m, I would engage…at least until that particular Raid Section is fully understood and done! If the ‘fun’ element is present, then, I’d likely move on to the next Raid Section…and within a few days, I’d likely have got a full Raid completion…in my own time, and at my own pace. 🤔 Thereafter, if I wanted a run at the Neomuna Overtuna (N.O.) vibe regular hardcore Raid - I could…even though it’s highly unlikely! 😁 FWIW: I raided nonstop in D1…and stopped after the Sunset Debacle…prior to that, I was a bubble T with ToM in Oryx 1.0… 🤫 K.I.S.S. - it ain’t rocket science! 👈 That is all. Ease Things! 🖖👻 MTFBWY
