Do I really have to make a new Bungie account just to link my Steam? I’ve used this account since the Xbox 360 days.
I’ve got my old Steam account linked to my Bungie account, and apparently in 2025 they removed the option to unlink it.
I was getting ready for the Marathon before pre-ordering and noticed the wrong Steam account is linked.
Is that really it? There’s no way to remove it manually? No way to contact support?
I don’t care about Destiny, they could delete all my characters for all I care.

Yes, since March 25th's [url=https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/35597981889300-Notice-Bungie-net-Account-Unlinking-Update-on-March-25-2025]unlinking update[/url], only Twitch accounts are now eligible to be unlinked from Bungie profiles. All other platform accounts, once linked, are linked permanently. Further, as Bungie entrusts players with the security and management regarding linking their accounts, we do not unlink any accounts on players' behalf. Thus, the Steam account in question will remain linked. To link a different Steam account, you would indeed need to create a new Bungie profile.
