WE DONT WANT A POWER GRIND

Recent Twab changes for power climbing are literally useless and it is so clear the community doesn’t want a power climb. We want a loot climb, do the hardest pieces of content=tier 5’s. We don’t want to be little dorks grinding 100+ hours just to get tier 5’s that literally takes no skill. Just admit your losses and get rid of the power climb and get rid of the portal too.

  • They are going to continue with this stupid power grind, but it’s going to tank the game. They should have never gone down this route to begin with. The problem is that the loot drops are so stingy that the loot chase was all we were bothered about for years. And for many in the game that’s why we played. The grind at the beginning of the year for power level was acceptable because it was over quickly enough for most to then chase the weapons we wanted. Now we have a weapons chase, armor chase and the egregious power level climb. It’s too much and it was a stupid idea in the first place, given what Bungie must have in terms of data about the player base. Bungie must have known that we chase gear not power level, and yet they implemented this asinine system. As far as I’m concerned they deserve what is coming to them if they don’t reverse course.

I somewhat disagree. I grew up playing JRPGs, so I don't mind a power grind *if* it's actually getting me somewhere. But with this power delta system they've got in the game now, it doesn't matter what we do, we're gonna be underpowered, lol. I would argue that parts of D1 especially in the vanilla were even more of a grind than what we've got now. Only a handful of ways to increase power, infusion system didn't even exist and was limited when it did come out and even weapon perks had to be unlocked. But all of that felt like it was leading somewhere. Everything now just leads back to the portal.

    • Actually, the community has spoken, and it does. It gives people a sense of accomplishment and a goal to chase while playing. This was proven when bungie took the grind away for 3 seasons and the community complained wanting it back.

      • You'd get more support from the community if you didn't talk down about the ones that put in the grind to get the T5 gear. You don't have the time, you don't want to grind, something else... It doesn't matter, to elevate yourself above others will immediately cost you support. Just my two cents, not that you care.

        • I don't mind the grind, I just think the grind has zero meaning. You don't really get better gear at higher levels, you get the same gear with adjusted stats and the activities you can already play get harder. Like wtf. If you have fireteam power why have Power at all

          • The power grind has always been hatedm I have no idea why they added it. At least the old system it was moe of a side quest you could do if you wanted not a requirement. The only grind we have ever liked was for the loot and with the new tier system it is the perfect way for them to get us into it to get tier 5 god rolls. The portal too is pointless once you reach a level the lower ones become obsolete. Bungie reutrn the activies to the game that made it fun and the variety.

          • Why are people so quick to want to max power then complain that game is boring and noting to work towards. Power level is fine, you have access to everything. Play at your own pace. You're not missing anything since power is scaled up now when playing with others

            • Yes you do . bungie knows what you want and what is fun so you’ll get hamster wheel progression, timers, fish in a barrel map layouts, nerfs galore to space magic and weapons, nonsensical story. And sense you have forgotten that you are talking to the makers of Halo and Original Destiny and you seem to not hold them in the highest regard you should lose access to making comments here in the forums. Yes i’m fluent in Sarcasm.

              • Yeah, that's the problem I ran into Even if this system came out firing on all cylinders, grinding power is a pretty dull system to be the new main focus of your game

I don’t think the new engineers inside bungie are confident in their skills to produce good results, so they altogether refuse to listen to feedback and instead resort to lip service via community managers and doing the bare minimum. I mean just look at how unstable the current state of destiny is. You would think they care, but the reality is, they can’t. I guess what Im really saying is, your feedback is kinda useless to them. Because they are useless.

No, progression is the draw of games like Destiny, why I play Destiny instead of COD, D2 doesn't have enough interesting loot to carry the game alone, why people hated seasons, just log in and get the new patterns, then log off till next season, there was no reason to engage with anything But it should be meaningfull progression, and should only make challenges easier to overcome, not replace the challenge entirely A good example would be in The Dark Below, you could only get max level gear from the hard raid, which was 33, but it felt alot more forgiving going in at 31 instead of 29 There still need to be skill checks though, with Tier 5 only dropping from the hardest activities, getting Tier 5s from a 3 min lost sector is a joke I have almost a full vault page of Tier 5 weapons, I don't feel like I truly earned any of them
