I'm just curious about how many people actually enjoy the game being this difficult, and how it seems like the higher-level difficulties are a requirement to experience the full game and its build crafting. I, personally, don't. The term 'power fantasy' has been used many times over the years but it doesn't seem like we're the ones with the power or the fantasy anymore. I'm all for a challenge but just intentionally making you under-leveled seems lazy and kind of disrespects the time and effort you've put into leveling up. I miss the days when the game was difficult because of its mechanics not because Bungie doesn't want you getting overpowered.

1 ReplyDifficulty should be mostly optional as to attract a wider variety of players.

2 RepliesEdited by ben: 7/21/2025 5:31:59 PMI like challenge in destiny and I think it is very important. But I want it to be an option, not in every single thing I want to do to the point where I need a thoughtful loadout for something as simple and casual as strikes or a seasonal activity. It is exhausting doing things like the nether and current -10 raids and dungeons not because they are impossible they just do not need to be this hard. Let normal mode be normal and leave the higher tiers for if you WANT the challenge, dont force it. For example my friend and I got into the habit last season with the content drought of picking up people on lfg and fireteam finder to sherpa through vespers host because we both really enjoyed that dungeon, both had maximum dps loadouts from solo flawlessing it and wanted to use our skills to carry people through that wouldnt normally get to since its the hardest dungeon in the game. In the new system theres no way we could do that, ive heard that the corrupted puppeteer is like a 4 or 5 phase with optimal loadouts now between the new delta and the new damage scaling. Its just not needed. The game was fine

1 Replyy'know, the game is fun when you don't let people on the forums get to ur head.

20 RepliesDatto and Cross haven't beaten Contest as of right now. They got what they wanted, insane difficulty. Can't wait to hear them complain about it when it's all over

Edited by TinMan: 7/20/2025 11:23:30 PMConfusing, Annoying. I almost uninstalled the game 2x so far. Hate the little energy ball. Changing stuff just for the sake of change is well, no fun to be nice about it... I'm not alone in this. 2 other people I have played with for years are ready to drop the game also.

Nope. My opinion is and I'm sure others agree is that the fact we do harder content but get little reward is total BS. Either turn down the difficulty or increase the rewards

Just play titan. They still 1 shot contest yellow and orange bars with ease. If you want to play a warlock, then good luck getting people that won't try to force you on well/ceno because warlocks aren't allowed to deal massive amounts of burst damage on repeat.

I love seeing stream titles, which I won't bother to watch, how pretty much all the major streamers are unhappy with this Contest Mood weekend. Congrats Bungo you listened to your lap dogs and now pissed even them off!!!

Nope. Full power level reset along side full reset on many mod interactions. Also an enemy HP and DP restructure. Leads to compounding difficulty since everyone is now a newbie. D3 this is not. The point of DLC was new content that fits in existing platform. It is obvious that launch time was a hard deadline. The new content fits like a pair of two sizes too small shoe. The bugs this created ratchet difficulty higher. One hit deaths leading to reset is OK if you have many paths to not being in said situation. That is a challenge. A one path approach needing specific load-out or location is not OK. That is frustrating. Trying to look beyond the bugs to have fun. Trouble is finding more and more reasons to swear at Bungie.

I don't. Seen many others say it too, OPTIONS would be smart solution but who knows, its bungie. Steam player counts might agree with you too

2 RepliesI don’t. I like being able to eventually over-level and have an easier time beating the tougher activities. I think that the game can cater to those who play for challenge AND those who play for fun. Those who like it when it’s sweaty all the time should be able to select that for much greater rewards and at an earlier rate. Those who play for fun, can work towards getting themselves to a point where it’s not a slog to get good loot. Sure, it’ll take longer but you CAN eventually get there. There can also be other higher-difficulty challenges for those who like it sweaty for emblems and titles (as well as higher tier loot).

1 ReplyI like that hard content is available, i don't think it's good that the easiest content is getting harder

Hate it… bring back power fantasy for us
-
1 ReplyI think mythic is obnoxious and unenjoyable, but other than that it seems fine. What I don't enjoy is bungie nerfing survivability, the ammo economy, and power feel overall, to then turn around and overtune things and make everything feel like (somehow) even more of a slog. Whoever is running the show needs to be locked in the nearest closet asap.
-
We finally have modifiers in for the majority of the activities, and they still choose to artificially make the game more difficult than it needs to be.

2 RepliesThis old tortoise doesn’t care for the Neomuna Overtuna vibe that started on Neomuna…and got ramped up by degrees ever since. It’s the PvE equivalent of PvP Trials stomper nonsense. It ain’t fun. Never was. Never will be. As previously suggested, have the option to choose at what level one wants to play: Newb / Normal / Gnarly / Gnarly + / Not a Chance Or something similar. Have emblems to match and loot galore for all. No gate-keeping loot behind upper tiers…that’s YOUR CHOICE TO PLAY AT THAT LEVEL - so, enjoy the emblems / bragging rights; as those are (apparently) what really matter to the hard core brigade, and the ‘sense of accomplishment’, or so they say! Have at it, I say. 🥳👻 The rest of us can then have some normal fun…minus the FOMO and other artificially enhanced layers of stress and difficulty. 👻😉 Have just made Rank 4…even getting that was glitched or simply not working, ie, being stuck on 2/3 Fireteam Ops + Bonus Focus. 🧐 The solution - run the solo Epic Hunt + add a mod or two. 👌 My LL is around the 150 mark. I’m just pootling about, doing the campaign on normal…nothing special. I’ve got used to Sparky and the other two movement additions…🫤 Sparky needs better control options…as it’s a bit hard sometimes to get it where it needs to go…and its zapper needs more zap! Am currently stuck on the Siphon mission where the vex need zapping…and another bunch appear for further zapping…but, my sparky’s zapper fires virtual blanks!? 🤔 And here we be… That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡

I'm only playing to power level 200 and finishing my battle pass. There's no point to playing beyond that anymore. The arrogance of this company will create its own consequences.

1 ReplyWait what? Lightning Surge Synthoceps with 200 melee and melee boosting weapons is like on demand Nova Bomb and trivialize everything. Focus on stats and make an actual build. Game is easier than ever.
-
Not me. If I was terrible before, I’m on the verge of giving up now. I don’t want it to be stupidly easy, but I’m tired of getting to a boss fight with a thousand adds and no cover, only for more adds to pile in just when you think you might actually stand a chance. Then I die and have to start all over again.
-
the game is hard now? base difficulty is basically og patrols , outside that leveling after 300 and getting max tier gear from portal needs work
-
I have to say the difficulty in d2 has been ramping up since Lightfall as a result of several factions calling for more difficulty. Now, I'm enjoying the schadenfreude as streamers don't seem to li,e the contest mode this time about. I for one stopped playing and finished the campaign in tfs. This was always going to be a bad dlc. The question is can bungie recover as numbers say sales aren't going up, just down

Hi, I have just reached power level 300, now any activity that i start with an rank A (no matter what modifiers I chose) and will give me let's say 303 gear, i do almost no damage and almost all enemies 1 shot me (I'm not a noob and i have decent gear). Any thoughts on this issue?
-
3 RepliesDon’t select the modifiers that put you under level then? I’m confused . There are options now no?

There seems to be a very fine line between being Overpowered and underpowered in destiny, if you are underpowered the activities seem to be more challenging but if you are overpowered the activities seem to be too easy and if you are overpowered getting good rewards from challenging activities doesn’t seem like fun it’s more of a burden, you see there’s so many things implemented into the game to keep it challenging, fun and rewarding all at the same time whilst trying to please everyone which it becomes a problem of the game shooting itself in the foot (in all honesty bungie should just screw over the streamers and cater towards the community instead, who cares if stuff is too easy for them, who cares if they get all the “challenging” rewards I honestly don’t care if datto has a mythoclast and I don’t) my point is the game should be fair for everyone and not cater to one end of the skill scale

No. I hate all this. Full stop.
