By and large, I do not like the new portal’s design. It gives off the aesthetic of a mobile game, or call of duty cash grab.
The director of planets looked amazing, and really helped showcase the game’s size in a way that the portal does not. It elegantly displays all of the game’s activities on one screen that can be explored just like the planets can. It helps showcase all of the destinations and gives a feeling of vastness to the game.
Not to mention, any activities that are not on the Portal’s page will likely suffer from dying populations. Rumble for example, does not have a lot of players right now as was apparent in my matchmaking experience.
Please stop making decisions that take the soul out of this game. The portal screen just makes this game look like another live service cash grab. Even if that is what it is meant to be, acknowledging that is bad marketing.

Honestly, the Portal makes me feel lonely. There is currently, in my opinion, not enough loot for it to really reel me in.

Why do the mission activities not have matchmaking???? There are daily challenges to complete but I don't want to solo or have to LFG to do them. I understand the solo ops but why are the mission, which also give bonus drop, not match making?? Make no sense.

Edited by Golden: 7/19/2025 12:37:15 AMYeah the Portal sucks. They should have kept the original world director and added Kepler in a corner or something. Not to mention they purposely made the world director gray scale to make it look less enticing and bring the attention to the Portal is plain sad. Edit: I was right about the grayscale and they’re reverting it 💀💀

Edited by King: 7/18/2025 1:19:40 AMI think Bungie’s intention was to minimize how many clicks were required for players to get to an activity. However, I still prefer the old ‘Destinations’ tab. I liked seeing a new planet get added every new expansion.

1 ReplyEdited by PandaPapa146: 7/18/2025 12:09:55 AMI’m not sure if it’s changed or not, but the main screen in* WarFrame showed a universe with many distinct planets and other galactic waypoints. When starting out from new, one started on a particular planet, and followed a clear line of progression waypoints for each mission accomplished, and those yet to do. I thought this was an excellent system. Still do. That is all. Ease Springs! 🫤 * edit: Autobot correction

Yea, the portal is just aweful. I compare it to an arcade game. Just hop in and do stuff, then leave. That's not Destiny. We have many "kinda" open worlds. Many raids, Dungeons, Strikes, seasonal Activities. Not just 3 solo and 3 pinnacle missions lol. Portal undersells this game by a huge amount.

1 ReplyIt’s starting to feel like that’s what they want. Like they are in the process of slowly reducing everything to a minimal state so that the game can just be some engagement farm for as long as they can milk it.

Portal is a full screen tab trying to be everything requiring multiple sub menus with very limited details all being oversized making nothing intuitive. The irritating part is Portal has exclusive quests, loot trees, and matchmaking. So you need to use it. Existing tabs remain with reduced functionality. Thankfully Pathfinder is gone. That said Pathfinder was somewhat useful even though hidden. Maybe they are trying to separate paid content from unpaid. Definitely a different group making this season. These “fixes” and “updates” fit into core game poorly and it shows.

Maybe it’s just me, but at a quick glance going through the portal, I felt like there are LESS opportunities for matchmaking activities than before. Portal has a lot of options that don’t include matchmaking, which is absolutely insulting to those of us who don’t routinely play with a fireteam.

It has a very corporate and soulless design.

I never did any vanguard stuff anyway it stopped being rewarding for a long time ago did a few missions on it yesterday with me and two buddies ran through pretty fast It was just cruising and felt like a patrol difficulty wise killing everything that moved ez loot we thought....but we somehow got a C?.... killing everything and was under time...but still not enough points to get the base rewards?...s shouldn't need to speed run and optimize for a strike and chain supers to farm orbs or whatever just to get rewarded in a normal strike...

1 ReplyAgreed. They even removed the featured PvP modes like hardware

I agree, the Portal feels cheap. It was surely made in an attempt to simply finding activities, but it’s ugly. I’m sure it will evolve with feed back though.
-
I really don't understand the need to have crucible in the portal and on the destination screen and also have completely different activities between the two. If they had the same playlist then it would make more sense. It seems so convoluted now which is the opposite of what they were trying to achieve.
-
It just feels like their way of sunsetting everything they can within the game, all the weekly tasks and challenges have gone. I know not eveyone liked to do them but it gave us all a variety of things to do within the game. Now its just the daily bounties within the portal and Banshee.

If bungie added raids and dungeons to the portal I would be pleased with it I get board playing lost sectors crucible and strikes
