Literally nobody was asking for a change to the system that has worked for so many years yet it still happened. Now it takes ages for you to charge your super and you don’t even know when you’re going to get it because you don’t have a timeframe in which it’s guaranteed to be up. Most of the solo activities you won’t even get a super until the end of the mission unless you are trying to have the time expire on you. The whole stat system in general was super unnecessary and there was no real reason to change them. Nobody asked for this change, and with old armor distribution changed it seems like a way to subtly turn you to the new armor. It also erases part of each classes’ identity, as now all of them will try to have the exact same stats instead of warlocks trying to have high recov, titans with resil and hunters with mobility. This sucks
Edit - Maybe I was too harsh on the new system but I still stand by some of the things that I mentioned. I do not like the fact that I have to change the armor I’ve been working with for years but on the contrary the new system seems relatively simplified. I personally would’ve been fine if they kept the old stats but replaced the tiers with the new percentage system. I definitely exaggerated and the system isn’t awful, it’s just ok. I’m sure i’ll change my mind as the season progresses.

the purpose of this dlc was to nerf everything. that was their goal. they even did stealth nerfs. it was a way to nerf without saying they are nerfing everything.

2 RepliesI like it so far, playing the legendary campaign with the infamous prismatic consecration titan, with 150 in melee and 110 in weapons and 80 super. DR and recovery are not great because they are low, but the rest just melts ads and bosses.

1 ReplyFor what it's worth, I've been hoping for a change to the previous stat system for years. My main problem with the previous stat system is that the incremental benefit every 10 points prevents you from looking at a piece of gear and knowing whether it will be better for you or not because a human being cannot naturally solve the multivariable equation to arrive at the best combination of stats. You can see this directly from the fact that when using the DIM Loadout Optimiser, a lower statted piece of gear may be better for you than a comparable higher statted piece of gear due to the break points. It's too early for me to express a considered view on the new stat system, but at least the first experience of it is that most stats feel desirable, so there is genuine thought going into which of maybe 4 or 5 different stats I want to prioritise (instead of Resilience + 1). I'm not saying you shouldn't have your opinion or reaction. It's just that since you started with "nobody was asking for a change to the system" and I've been posting on the forum asking for the system to change for several years, I thought I would share that :)

3 RepliesEdited by Minibeave: 7/17/2025 4:02:16 PMAside from invalidating our old armor grinds, this new system isn't bad. Sounds like a learn to play issue frankly. Same with people struggling for ammo. Idk what the -blam!- you guys are using, I have bottomless special and heavy practically with the new systems.

3 RepliesI dunno I like the new system and we are only scratching the surface of it. I’m running an electric slide melee build on my Warlock. Being able to invest the points to bagel absurdly powerful has made the new system better than the last one. That’s without using the new armor and gaining set bonuses. People are always afraid of change but it’s how Destiny has survived for 11 years as a franchise. Game was stagnating and needed a major shakeup. Players need to give it more than a couple of days before condemning it.

I like it

1 ReplyThe big thing here is that it feels good if you play into a certain style, grenades for example, but everything else gets left behind. The big worry in the back of my head is people being elitist and kicking others out of raids and activities just because they dont have a Paragon or a Gunner build, just like G-horn back in the day. To twist the knife even more, if you wanted to farm up a few sets kust to be safe it would take up a whole page just for a single character, and many of us run all three. We just dont have space for this -blam!-.

If your super stat is around 100 you can basically spam it. Dont just ignore the stat and youll be fine.
-
If you want super, go for super stat gear? I think the fact that they are trying things is great and love the new stat system. So much options.

I agree the changes suck in some ways. What I don't seem to understand is the group of jerks who just spammed get over it or just spec for super like it's something players have full control over. So as a rational suggestion of how I am handling the nerfs to my favorite exotic armors because of the super stat (Doomfang and falling star). Use high stat old armor if you have it for more spread out stat distribution, and compensate for everything using font mods. If you don't have old armor focus armor that prioritizes melee or grenade. Because until you can get tier 4-5 armor with similar high stats all current armor is fodder and the set bonuses aren't meaningful.
