the main change pvp needs is an ability cd nerf, for primary guns the balance is pretty good outside some subtypes that sucks

Just play hardware. There are plenty of options these days. Yours truly, Double primary main

Players have gotten too good, so everyone having a one-shot in their back pocket just makes everyone too scared to move around and causes this meta we're in right now, where everyone just puts on a scout or a pulse and doesn't move. I'd also like if subclass trees and set rolls came back only for pvp, but I know most people probably wouldn't agree with me on that. Also radar needs to be changed in pvp because it's almost impossible to flank unless you're an invis hunter, because they just have a circle in the corner of their screen telling them where you are at all times.
-
You can still flank but it’s more abt the timing
-
theres no timing involved when theres a circle in the corner of your screen that tells you exactly when someones is going to show up
-
There is timing involved. I know how radar works lol. You need to flank while your teammates engage them in a fight. Solar warlock is also fast enough to minimise radar pings.
-
Yeah, you flank when your team takes a fight with them, and then they see you on their radar, so they all just turn and nuke you, then go back to your teammates.
-
You obviously still have to play smart. It doesn’t even need to be a massive flank. But in my lobbies if you get the timing right it screws up their crosshair placement which is a death sentence
-
The only way to get the timing right is to go invisible because with the circle of knowledge in the corner of their screen, they will know you're approaching so they will simply go out of los of your teammates so they can fight you in safety then go back to your teammates who are now down a player
-
Let me give you an example. If you are playing on dead cliffs and your enemies are playing the angles in mid, if you notice they are getting comfortable with trading dmg with your teammates and they put a rift down, you know they are likely tunnel visioned. This means you can wrap around the left and play the left hand peek angle from above on the balcony type thing, you have cover so you can peekshoot as well as a way to escape. They wouldn’t be able to know you were flanking because their radar either hasn’t returned yet or they were tunnel visisoned on your teammates This is what I mean by timing but it is situational so I agree that majority of the time a flank isn’t a smart move
-
But this only works if they're bad and sit there hardscoped, and sometimes it won't even matter if they are hardscoped because things like knucklehead, ace, and mida exist.
-
I do this when I play scrimms, it works and even against good players. You just need the correct timing. Ain’t no one uses mida, ace maybe and knucklehead maybe. Even if they aren’t hardscoped they will still have to fight 2 sides at once.
-
But if their positioning isn't doodoo, they'll be playing near cover, so they'll just move into cover blocking los of one side, making it where they only have to fight one side
-
Even if you get a couple shots in before they move away, it’s still significant.
-
Just use special???? that's like saying "DANG IT, THEY KEEP PICKING SCISSORS!! PICK ROCK FOR ONCE!!!!"
-
I do use special weapons because if I didn't, I'd be shooting myself in the foot with a nuke, but whether I use them or not, it doesn't change the fact that they make the game miserable.
-
Dude. Just play CQ where you have every advantage at your fingertips. Jfc.
-
What is CQ?
-
Close Quarters. You're a Titan main, yes? (No I didn't check...just sounds like it). Shoulder charge, shield bash, barricade, melee, blind, panic super bail-outs, etc.... coupled with bulk (not sustained) damage weapons (e.g. shotty / hand cannon) = prosper in CQ. Make your own fortunes. If you're having trouble countering tactics that work around your built in strengths, I suggest you play the other side for awhile to figure out how to adapt. As a Hunter main using double primary 95% of the time, I have zero issue vs Titans. It's on me to make sure my CQ engagements are tiered (peeling back layers) and take place mostly between 10 - 15m.

Edited by HumanCone: 6/17/2025 4:28:19 AMYou're misunderstanding. I know how to play against special weapons with double primary, and I know how to use special weapons as well; it's the way special weapons force the game to be played that I hate. Here's an example, me and you are in a 1v1 situation, we both have a 140 handcannon and a shotgun, you hit 2 handcannon headshots on me so I go into cover, you now have 2 choices, sit there doing nothing throwing away your health advantage and letting me regen while waiting for me to peek, or you can once again thow away your health advantage by pushing me because now that you're pushed up in shotgun range it doesn't matter what your health is because in shotgun range both of us have 1 health. Now if it were a double primary 1v1 and we had smgs instead of shotguns, you would be able to push me knowing you have the advantage, but with how it is now, we either just sit there infinitely peeking, then going to cover, or just 50/50ing in the special weapon duel. Special weapons make pvp boring.
