I agree revive tokens should be an optional difficulty modifier for the try-hards and challenge seekers The same goes with the time limits... If someone just wants to wander around the raid let them they are locations that lots of hard work have been put into so why not give us the time to enjoy them and learn the encounters? Making the raids difficult is not the problem players just want to access them explore and learn how to complete them... destiny has way too much toxic gatekeeping...games are meant to be fun it's not that hard a concept to to have a less demanding difficulty for new and casual players and a extreme mode for the challenge seeker...same with loot rare on the low end common at the high end...it's not that hard and everyone wins

  • Yes I paid hundreds of dollars for a half empty zone full of things that can't barely give exp has no story and is totally the front and center content when they talk about the game and its value to players....and people wonder why the game is dying having such a vibrant community of players and friendly and helpful community...

That's what you described: "If someone just wants to wander around the raid let them they are locations that lots of hard work have been put into so why not give us the time to enjoy them......." Your words. Remarkably similar to what some would describe as "sight-seeing." Which is fine, I like to go into dungeons alone my first time for just that reason; to look around and take in the environment. However, although I make an effort I don't have any expectation of completing it myself. You want to take a stroll through a raid to take in the sights? Go right ahead, just don't expect Bungie to rework them all so you can take a holiday in one.

  • But for real they don't need to be reworked just toned down if they can buff and nerf on a whim they can fix the health and damage budge the timers a bit and make an easier mode adjust the loot and flip on matchmaking...not that big a stretch...

  • Yes, indeed you are. Raids are endgame content; intended to be difficult. Bungie didn't invent the premise, they didn't perfect it, and certain don't have a monopoly on it. Other games do it, too. Perhaps this is the only game you've ever played, but I can assure you that's true. As for the matchmaking thing, how many times does this need to be discussed? IT WOULDN'T WORK. The mechanics and encounters in raids require, I'm going to say it again, REQUIRE communication between teammates and if you have matchmade players you don't know if they have a mic or even speak the same language. Look at how frustrated players get when it comes to matchmade teams in PvP or strikes; they get furious. Hell, I've been in raid teams where we actually could communicate and it left me grinding my teeth to the point I could've broken them. How well do you think you'd do playing with 5 other players who may as well be mute? At least with LFG you have some control over who is on your team.

  • I've done a pug nocom of vog all the way to gatekeeper...it was amazing...on the first week vog got crafting I ran so many open LFG post and guess what it did suck at first and over time I and many others worked it out it got faster as more and more people got in and learned and kept trying...I kid you not we as a full team open LFG pug nocomed oracles second try and that will be a lasting raid memory for me ...it is possible

  • I'm sorry (and slightly embarrassed 😞) but I have no clue what "pug nocom" means. I don't really keep up with gaming parlance. With this being the only MMO I've put any time into, it's never been terribly high on my priority list.

  • Ah ok a "pug" is a fresh run with strangers exactly what matchmaking would be or a open LFG it's a WOW (world of Warcraft) thing..."nocom" means no communications Mic or text...

  • The "nocom" thing actually makes sense (no comms) and I feel silly that I missed it, but where does the "pug" thing come from? Is it an acronym or something?

  • As I understood it, PUG is "Pick Up Group," which is an older MMO term for a random team you cobbled together, similar to LFG but more referring to the team rather than the active search for one.

  • Back then you just sent party invitations to everyone standing at the dungeon entrance and Hope they accepted no automatic system existed for matchmaking no character inspection or LFG back then...least be said it was rough

  • Pfft, I graduated in '97 and my kid turns 21 this October. 😕 Anyway, I've derailed the topic at hand so I'm circling back. Since you were able to run VoG with random LFG players (with no mics at that), why do you still feel matchmaking is necessary? As you said, ".....it is possible" to complete them using Fireteam Finder.

  • LFG is not casual friendly and it has a bad reputation for toxicity Matchmaking is universally understood...as a Go in get the job done expect a lot of shenanigans it's a level playing field of expectation and failure is a part of that expectation at a base...that's the difference...not one "pro" calling the shots kicking you because you don't have one specific gun for DPS or missed a jump had the wrong shader ECT...

  • What is so complicated about making your own post? Better yet, perhaps you'll give me a straight answer to a question most seem to dance around: If the community is so toxic and there are plenty of players on here that say as much, why don't you all team up and learn/complete raids together? Level playing field of expectation and all.........

  • Hmmm....ok... LFG is still a door...someone is in charge has the power over the team.. reading posts to understand expectations...waiting.. applying waiting knowing that they can look at you reject you for another...post your own? Waiting join ...wait leave join leave check your gear...not a carry leave waiting...I've spent hours looking and making posts to get stuff done it's a wasted effort and you haven't even loaded in to the activity yet....most give up faster than that...matchmaking click join load in... no expectations no requirements just you your cobbled together team and the raid... Gaining raid experience begins immediately... no comparison between the two

  • That didn't answer my other question though; people on here are always going on about the toxic community, how hard is it to just say "Hey, let's get to it together then?" Wait, I know the answer to that.........not very. Many of the dungeons, raids, and even GM Nightfalls I've done were with people I was merely shooting the breeze with right here on the forum. Take this how you will, I don't mean to come off as a pr*ck or something, but these sound more like excuses and laziness because people think it's easier to have Bungie make the teams for them. And should things not go well, they can continue blaming Bungie for their "shitty matchmaking," "toxic community," "content made for gatekeeping elitists," and anything else other than taking an inkling of personal accountability.

  • Ah The social point sorry.... not everyone wants to be social... They just want to play the game and anything between them and the game is a problem and some casual players will just not play if something like being social is something they don't want to do...i play mostly solo and most of my experiences with LFG and even the forums to a degree have been less than positive having a social network shouldn't be a requirement to play a game.... Especially when the game is designed to force social interaction it creates much unwanted friction.....Like sports just because you can't play the game doesn't mean you can't enjoy it or if you can't afford tickets to go to the stadium doesn't bar you from having a watch party and if you don't have friends that don't share your same interests does that ban you from being able to just enjoy the game by yourself?

  • A "social network" isn't required to play the game, just certain aspects of it. As many simply love to point out, a majority of the game can be played solo if that's how you want it. It's just unreasonable to expect Bungie to make everything soloable. Which by the way isn't the case if you're using matchmaking. Spin it however you like, but that's NOT playing solo. Besides, maybe you haven't noticed but you've got the aforementioned social network and you're using it right here, right now. I'm not even suggesting you establish life-long friendships with all the random people you meet on here to run a raid with and have them be your groomsmen/bridesmaids or something; just run the activity, get your goods, and move on with your lives on completely different paths.
