Yeah, that was kind of my concern as well. Despite what the elitist no-lifes on the forums want to believe, casual players DO make up the majority of Destiny's playerbase, or at least they used to when it was at its peak, and depending on how bad the lower tiers of gear are, I'm pretty concerned that it may drive them away from Destiny, or reduce the number of casuals able to join us in endgame content even further. Heck, if being able to put together a decent functioning build at all requires me to grind a ton of hard endgame content, I might not have the motivation for that either, especially if I'm gonna have to do it with a bad build in the beginning.
and depending on how bad the lower tiers of gear are, I'm pretty concerned that it may drive them away from Destiny, or reduce the number of casuals able to join us in endgame content even further.
Casuals in endgame content? That's hilarious. Everyone knows that casuals don't go into endgame content, and that's why they constantly demand they be given endgame rewards for doing nothing. You do have to be competent enough to make a build in the first place, though.

 • I'm also somewhat of a sweaty tryharder myself, so a lot of these changes won't even be that hard for me to overcome, but I'm worried that they'll kill the game even more than it already has been for casual players. I want everyone to be able to have fun. It'll also still make the game a little more tedious and less fun for me, even if I can handle it.

 • Agreed. I rather see a win for the casuals than the toxic players on this forum and in the game
Agreed. I rather see a win for the casuals than the toxic players on this forum and in the game
You can keep screaming toxic all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that all you have to do is actually play the game to get things. It's also been proven by the games own history that catering to casuals is the quickest way to kill the game. It's also considerably more toxic to have someone making demands that things be changed due to someone's personal choice or lack of skill to do something. But do go one screaming how everyone who doesn't agree with you is toxic.

 • Jesus there's so much to unpack here. You guys just don't get it. Bungie literally has to give loot away because of the difficulty of the game. We just saw them hand out two exotics and all you had to do was finish the dungeon on explore mode. Why did they do things like this? I grinded for those exotics. They just handed them away? Yes because if people can't earn them they quit. What would you rather have? Don't you see that the game has to have a balance. Has to be inclusive. If your method was correct why has trials changed? It died and had to be resuscitated how? By giving everyone a chance to earn the best Trials was offering. Why do you think that gating people out of pve content will be any different?

 •
Jesus there's so much to unpack here. You guys just don't get it. Bungie literally has to give loot away because of the difficulty of the game.
No, they don't. Those who don't have a skill issue can get the gear and casuals, who not only have a lack of skill but also don't need the top tier gear, can't get them. Now, more importantly, why do casuals who can't or won't do anything of real difficulty need the endgame gear? Are they trying to just sh*t on those patrol level enemies?
We just saw them hand out two exotics and all you had to do was finish the dungeon on explore mode.
Wow. So you're saying they gave something out for those who actually played the game? Those casuals must be so happy that they finally got 2 exotics that have been available for a year or more.
Why did they do things like this? I grinded for those exotics.
Good for you. Do you want a cookie or a gold star? Also, are you really trying to compare 2 exotics that have very niche use or don't get used at all to actual endgame gear?
They just handed them away? Yes because if people can't earn them they quit.
Good for them. Am I supposed to drop to my knees and beg them not to quit because they are incapable of playing the game they paid for? I also highly doubt anyone is out here quitting the game over weak exotic bow and very low usage trace rifle.
What would you rather have? Don't you see that the game has to have a balance.
You say balance, but throwing top tier gear at trash players who did nothing to get them isn't balance. You do know that the whole point of these kinds of games is to reward those who actually accomplish things and not hand out things to those who can't.
Has to be inclusive.
The hell it does. If you or anyone else needs a safe space to feel included because you couldn't get something in video game, then either find a different game instead of demanding one be changed for your or go get a helmet.
If your method was correct why has trials changed?
Great example. A mode that still requires you to not only play it but also win at least 1 match to get the actual rewards from it.
It died and had to be resuscitated how?
None of the pvp modes has ever died, and it has also always been a much lower player count mode than pve.
By giving everyone a chance to earn the best Trials was offering.
You don't really know how to help your own case, do you? But good job bringing up how people still need to play the game to earn things in trials instead of just being handed sh*t for doing nothing.
Why do you think that gating people out of pve content will be any different?
No one is being gatekept by anyone other than those who made the choice not to do something or lack the skill to do something.
