I'm a veteran. I want none of this. People also keep going on about veterans with PTSD, most of us don't have PTSD. People assuming we all do is getting very annoying. I did 12 years and went to the Gulf in 91, followed by Bosnia and Kosovo between 92 and 96. I don't need a pat on the back or some tat from a games company. I got paid and made mates that have lasted a lifetime. Some of us need help, plenty available for them and they don't want or need sympathy either.
Stop using us as a pawn in the culture wars.
We are mostly extroverts with a weird sense of humour and an ability to laugh at anything, in any weather. We enjoy each other's company and can't be bothered with people using us to virtue signal.
Stop it. Now

Edited by Nerd_Herd: 6/2/2025 5:23:41 PMYeah, having almost died twice in Afghanistan and attending funerals bi weekly, I am VERY irritated by the media's insistence that we are all PTSD psychopaths. I mean seriously man, no shame in having PTSD, but people keep thinking of Vets as if they all came out of rhe movie "Hurt Locker" or something. Also, we don't need to talk about our "trauma", we just carry on with our lives lmao But I will say seeing people wax on about their "trauma" does get old.

well youre not AMERICAN are you? so its not about YOU. you sound british. and anyway, im almost certain youre a liar.

So what you appear to be saying is that only American veterans should be recognised? Why else have a dig at the fact he’s British? Then say it’s not about him. Veterans are veterans whether they’ve fought for the USA, Britain, France or Tonga. Why discriminate?

Agreed, OP. Agreed. Just nonsense at this point.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I want no part of it. In the UK we call this guff "proper remembering" and take the mickey out of it at every opportunity. Still in touch with American guys I was in Bosnia with, they think it's pure cringe too.
