Honestly it would probably be good for Destiny if Bungie goes bankrupt, Sony kind of owns them now so all it will do is give Sony more control and they’ll probably keep the same devs more or less.
And Sony may be horrible with movies but their games are usually peak
And Sony may be horrible with movies but their games are usually peak
Like concord? Like marathon?
-
Good games, trash games, what does it matter. I root for Bungie going under. And Sony probably will take over. If Sony fixes what is wrong with Destiny 2, great. Except for the fact that Sony, like Microsoft, and Steam if they thought they could manage it, want a subscription service gaming future. And projections are $1000 hardware and $25-50 cost monthly for the "priveledge" of getting to play what they decide to host in that month. Gaming is on life support. Take the time to buy bigger storage for your old console, download titles in your library that don't require GamePass or Playstation Plus, and enjoy gaming without the corporate BS. Everything AAA on the horizon is "flash" without "substance" anyway.
-
Kinda ironic that the of the two you mention, one is made by Bungie and the other made by ex-bungie employees + received the "Okay! That'll do amazing" by none other than Bungie.
-
Ah yes name the two horrible games and leave out GoW, Insomniac Spiderman, Astro bot. The list goes on..
-
You can't ignore the bad ones - there's 6-7 recent acquisitions that have all bombed. They bought into concord really heavily & just like marathon they were told by the studio it would be a top 5 selling game, so their judgement isnt good on live service games.
-
But it isn’t their judgment, Destiny is a decade and a half old game it holds its own
-
Didn’t they make the og spider man
-
Wdym? Are you saying it’s bad and they weren’t responsible or what? Because u was referring to Kraven, Madam Web and Morbius (honestly though just watched Morbius and it was alright)
-
I loved the first Spider-Man with tobey maguire and I think Sony made that
-
Ohh I missread your comment, I thought it said they didn’t make the original spiderman. Yeah they did. I like the Toby spiderman for nostalgia reasons. But on a comic accuracy level both other Spidermen are better. I wish they didn’t ruin TAS2 because the first one had potential.

For me, best case senario would be Pete, Justin, and such getting fired. We know there are devs who actually care for the game, but people like them sufficate creativity for profit. That and Pete taking $2.3 Million from the $3.7 Billion Sony aquisition that was stated for use to stop lay offs and restructuring, spent that money on cars, bragged about his expensive car collection, then laid off a large number of devs should have been a sign he is not wanted or needed at Bungie. As for Justin, that's Mr. "Don't Overdeliver" and "Velocity Over Quality". That thought process is something that kills a company.
-
For sure, the devs are great (except the plagiarism of course, that needs solved too) but the management is trash
-
So much in Destiny 2 is "plagiarism" that the devs might have thought it was "acceptable" or that Bungie would clear things with the original artists. Armor ornaments for Titans are DIRECT copies of assets in Witcher 3. Did they get licensing? Or did it get lost in the noise? Only difference I can see is Marathon is so weak on it's own that the heavy (until now) marketing drive brought the "theft" to light. But, then again, only Bungie could answer that, and they can't be bothered to inform anyone of anything, unless it has the potential to get upvotes on TikTok or Twitter.
-
Agreed. For that plagiarism part, that is kind of what I meant by and such, but I hope that was a bit obvious.
-
Wait are those actual quotes by Justin? Because if so that guy has no business in the gaming industry lol
-
Yep. That was a long time ago, everyone hated it, and yet for some reason this man more recently got promoted to vice president of Bungie.
-
It’s depressing how snakes like these guys are always so successful.. they just kiss butt and please shareholders until they’re on top. I think shareholders should shut up and people in charge should listen to the fans more than them.. shareholder’s opinions are almost always stupid and if they would just listen to the fans they would make more money anyway..
-
Agreed. I mean, just look at Warframe. They improve their game, acutally make it free to play instead of free to try, make every update free instead of charge up to $100 for some season pass version, and every item/Warframe is free to obtain with the OPTION of a paywall if you want to. The only thing that is locked behind a paywall are Tennogen items on PC (player made items which is fine because some of the money spent on said item goes to the players who made them. Console lets you buy them with platinum.) or Prime cosmetics. As well, Warframe has a steady number of players on the game. Sure there are surges and drops with updates, but that is to be expected. It still has an even line of players showing up just because they love the game and have fun with it. DE as well are an amazing company that they run Tennocon, their own version of basically a Comic-con or E3 event. Sometimes they even give a free Prime Warframe just for watching on Twitch. What do you get from Bungie? An emblem. That basically no one will recongnize or even care about.
-
Honestly, DE (Digital Extremes for anyone who might not know) has been gamer/gaming focused for decades. They made insanely great artwork that you could download and use for desktop wallpaper all the way back to dial-up internet and windows 95. I play Warframe, and wouldn't even mind having to buy it or DLC, although I appreciate that we don't have to, just to support what appears to be an amazing company that cares what everyone thinks of their products and services. And gives value, with or without a price tag.
-
Yea, and another good example of good fan service payoff is Frontier, they make all the park management games (planet zoo/coaster Jurassic world evolution) and the games have tons of paid DLCs (planet zoo has like 30) but nobody complains because they never put out anything bad, their track record is so good and they always do what the fans want within reason. Bungie on the other hand has such a bad rep at this point that people are hesitant to buy the preorders

This comment will see you sued brother

Edited by Nova: 5/25/2025 9:07:12 AMI'm all for hating on the bad leadership but he spent his own money. Saying he took 2.3 mil as in stole is not true lol
-
Yea, rich guy buys rich cars, oh no… 😆 not like he funneled company funds or anything
-
Funny part is that he bought the cars AFTER the aquisition. As well, he proceeds to brag about how expensive his car collection is and invites people to come see it, then 2 days later there were the first round of lay offs.
