Good take - letting d2 flail around with minimal investment bc they wasted so much on failed projects was a terrible decision. Finances Spread too thin

I don't think any amount of investment will work if it's done under the management of morons, I mean the guy who infamously gave us the speech about not over-delivering got promoted to VP at Bungie. I think the main thing that needs to happen is to get people like Pete out of Bungie and someone in that sees more than just vintage cars and dollar signs when it comes to this game.

They've always invested in the pve and the game still died. Pvp was always the thing that kept people around. Bungie was stupid to not realize this, how do you think COD got as big as it is? Investing in their campaign or the pvp? I'm not saying that pve isn't important, because it is. Nor do I want to get in a remedial "d3st1ny iS a pV3 gAm3" debate. But the gross lack of updates to the crucible was one of, if not, the biggest contributor to this game's failure.

CoD is a PvP game first and foremost. They didn’t invest in the story very much because the intent was PvP. Destiny is a hybrid looter shooter with mmo lite mechanics that happens to have some PvP. It was never designed around PvP and when they did (D2 vanilla) it almost immediately killed the franchise. This discussion has been had a thousand times and will probably be had a thousand more… PvP player shits on “story stuff being a waste of time” and PvE player shits on “PvP ruining the power fantasy/fun” End of the day… I think Bungie should have made 1 new PvP map every season themed around the season… along with whatever cosmetics to chase. And I don’t think it would have been enough to satisfy PvP players in Destiny because I don’t think anything would ever satisfy that playerbase.

No, COD was a pve game first and foremost. It became a primarily pvp game after cod4 because the devs aren't morons and realized how valuable their pvp is when it comes to keeping masses of people playing for long periods of times. Again, don't want to have the remedial debate about what this game is, and I didn't shite on the pve at all. Very clearly said that it is important. I just pointed out the fact that Bungie has been supporting the pve side of the game heavily and the game still died. Had they been supporting the side of their game that usually keep people around for longer, pvp, the game wouldn't have died off so easily, if at all. COD has been garbage for years. Still the best selling game year over year. I wonder why?

Edited by SirEman80: 5/25/2025 5:33:02 AMDid you not read my last sentence? It seems like a pretty good approximation to your attitude. You’re right though… COD is trash. They release a “new” game like every three months which is just a reskin of the previous iteration. Nothing every drastically changes. If CoD was designed as a PvE game, who are the characters or the story in the PVE game? What’s the campaign like?
-
It’s a pve game mate
-
Sure. That's why it's also a dead game.
-
Saying all PVE games are bad is one heck of a hot take for sure.. you do realize some people like to chill and play games with friends not throw their controller around and T-bag right?
-
Some of you people honestly should sue your school systems for failing you.

The level of arrogance on this forum is disturbing

Bro it’s like they can’t even comprehend your statement, they see PVP and instantly think you’re tearing down PVE. Guys PVE has been EATING for years while PVP gets less than scraps. If you don’t think the PVE gets stale in any game then please show me, but you need a decent balance of both to have a game last.

They didn’t invest enough…. Should have done so much for the patrol spaces
