The problem with nightstalker, in BOTH modes, is it's overreliance on invis. There is not a single other subclass in the game that is so one note. Every single aspect that nightstalker has mentions invis. On every other subclass in the game I could find you at least one aspect that doesn't tie in to it's "main" subclass verb. Usually more. But nightstalker is doomed to live and die by how good invis is in the current meta. If it's good, nightstalker is great. If it's bad, nightstalker is the worst subclass in the game.

  • absolutely. This is the main problem. Nightstalker is way too passive, and there are basically no exotics to make it more aggressive. Stylish is the only real offensive ability, and it's not always great for endgame content since you have to punch enemies for it to work. No versatility on the weaken punch either, it has to be from directly out of invis, so you can't combo with weapons or perks like One Two Punch. Also, I feel that the 3x unpowered melee buff is far too low for a subclass that doesn't support melee otherwise, and doesn't have any exotic to buff it. Otherwise, I think Smoke, Quiver, and Spec Blades need buffs, and aspects like Vanishing Step and Trapper's Ambush could use some touch-ups. If Invis can ever be used active-aggressively in a more universal sense, Nightstalker will probably be one of the best subclasses.

  • In a sense for me, Orpheus use to make Nightstalkers more aggressive due to the fact you get your super back super fast with it, but then they reduced the refund to only 50% which suchs when you pick up orbs before the refund kicks in and it just... wastes the orbs. I get it being a nerf for PvP, but there is absolutely no reason it should apply to PvE.

Gyrfalcons is the closest it gets to having offensive capabilities when combined with stylish, but you can have about the same level of ad clear with a voltshot primary. Even more if you actually build into arc properly. The thing that nightstalker really needs, and should have gotten with it's new aspect, is a diversification of it's kit. A rework to make less of it's kit focused on invisibility. But on the prowl released, another aspect asking you to build into invis, and the hopes of nightstalker ever being something else again were dashed.

Orpheus Rig has been slowly power crept to irrelevancy, and tether just doesn't do enough to really warrant usage in endgame content. It just feels like the entire class is a relic of a bygone era.
