What’s the point of using Frost Armor if other damage reduction mechanics are far easier to obtain and maintain whilst offering a higher damage reduction percentage overall?
Make it make sense.

2 RepliesThere are multiple problems with Frost Armor, ironically none of which are the ones you mention. Not only is Frost Armor a stronger DR value than its closest competitor (Woven Mail), it also has near-permanent uptime as long as you're generating shards while Woven Mail only lasts 5 seconds when generated via orb pickup, causing it to fall off frequently. The problems with Frost Armor is that to get DR worth using, you have to be Stasis and be locked into using a specific Aspect + Fragment combination. Prismatic can't get the stack increase so it's not worth using and there are no Exotics that grant Frost Armor outside of Icefall Mantle which still forces you to use a Stasis Super to operate (and still isn't worth using on Prismatic because of the aforementioned reduced stack count). The other problem is that Frost Armor stacks all fall off at once, so in harder content, you can still struggle to maintain good DR values. It's a DR option that's most viable for easy content, which is content where DR is the least impactful, causing the perception that it's just the worst DR option available. While the perception is wrong, the effect in-game is that it still manages to feel that way.

4 RepliesX5 can in pvp make you tank a triple tap from a 120 with 10 resilience which is usually a titan with the icefall mantle In pve dr has always been quite strong

Just wait till everyone loses their resilience stat, that renewal grasp combo gonna look real good.

It's one of the many mechanics that's only good with artifact perks, because Bungie doesn't like the idea of players being able to function outside of whatever contrived meta they've designed for the season.

1 ReplyDo you play endgame content?

Can't speak for other classes but it's pretty easy to get and maintain on warlock. And yes it could use a small buff to it feels a bit worse than overshield. 🤔

2 RepliesThe biggest issues with Frost Armour are that it forces you to run the Harvest Aspects, because there are no other reliable ways to get it, so you're limited to only 1 Aspect that you can freely choose, and the other issue is that it's too weak without Whisper of Rime, which takes away another choice in your buildcrafting. If it could go up to 8 stacks by default, and actually had better access worked into the Stasis kit, the way Bolt Charge is so well worked into Arc, then it would be fine.

Edited by GradeMyGuardianTTV: 5/20/2025 6:20:47 PMGlacial Quake is still the best Roaming Super in the game for Single Target DPS. That's pretty much the only reason to be on anything Stasis these days. Getaway+Bleakwatcher's Pris-Lock is a snorefest, but the only other "Stasis" centric build I could reference as relevant. Frost Armor not even centric to the Build itself.
