I didn’t play earlier games. But is it possible you went through a portal to the Black Garden, at the end of traveling through the underground tunnel on Mars? Or some sort of space/time warp? We access the Black Garden for the Star Crossed mission (for the Wish Keeper Strand Exotic Bow) this way. We also access it this way (portal) from the Moon for the GoS raid. As far as concepts, maybe we see this theme a lot. I think about the Witch Queen campaign. We start on Mars, because we see Savuthun’s ship hovering above. But once rocketed up with Cabal technology, we enter her Throne World. We know her Throne world isnt really “on” Mars. It’s a complete separate reality, crafted by the Savathun herself. Much like Oryx’ dreadnaught “ship”. Perhaps the Black Garden can shift in time and space like the above worlds too. We only can interact with these spaces because we presumably possess technology and power (from the Traveler and others)

  • Savathunes Capital Ship (i forgot the name) is not the same as the Dreadnaught. The Dreadnaught underwent a process called Eversion, which we see happening this Episode toward the beginning with the Anchors. Essentially, Oryx’s Throne World, the High War, was vulnerable in Ascendent Space, being capable of invasion by forces like the Vex, other Ascendent Hive (Including his Sisters) and any being capable of manipulating Ley Lines and the Ascendent Realm including Guardians and Wish Dragon Ahamkara. As such, Oryx pulled his World Cyst into our Reality, tying it to the Dreadnaught, making the High War and Dreadnaught one and the same. Yes, certain parts of the Dreadnaught are only accessible by being Ascendent and through the Portals into the Throne Worlds Space, but otherwise, the Dreadnaught and Throne world are one and the same. A breathing Paradox. It’s really cool the whole function of Oryx’s throne world in particular. Comparatively, it’s the most unique Throne World we have seen, and even Xivu Araths throne world, which has been used offensively, has not been used offensively like Oryxs. Because the Throne World both exists and doesn’t exist within our planet of existence, Oryx is able to expand the boarders of his throne world and destroy everything in its wake, like he does at the beginning of the Taken King expansion when he Kills and Takes Mara Sov and nearly kills Uldren. That Bubble Super Weapon was his Throne World.

While Savuthun’s ship is not exactly like Oryx’ ship, it provided a medium to delve into her Throne World. How much of a medium is probably the question- whether it was a physical medium, or some type of ritualistic medium. On-board, it looks just like her Throne World. If it’s a spiritual type medium, it would perhaps have some parallelisms to Oryx’ Throne World and ship. If it was just a simple physical medium to enter a portal, then it was used more like any terrain was used to enter the Black Garden. This comes from a Reddit post: “We enter savathun’s throne world through her ship, The Lure. We just skip the part where we have to get to the portal and probably have a transmat station set up outside but we just show up near Fynch’ hideout for game purposes.” I absolutely love learning the lore. From some other posts I’ve seen, we have visited Mara’s throne world as well. It seems the team does really well making content that feature stuff like this - especially Hive and Taken related.

  • The Shattered Throne takes place in Mara’s Decrepit Throne World, it having been subsumed and destroyed by Oryx when Mara was both Killed and Taken.
